Which Installer Should I Download and Use?

Below is a list of the macOS and Mac OS X versions supported by farmerswife, with the corresponding download link. If you are unaware of which macOS you are running, click on the Apple icon on your Mac's menu bar, and select About This Mac.

PLEASE NOTE: from version 7.0, farmerswife no longer supports 32bit operating systems. Therefore any user currently operating macOS 10.13 High Sierra or below, will need to upgrade to at least macOS 10.14 Mojave, to continue using farmerswife

	macOS Sonoma 14.x	Download the "fw_client_v701-SP2.dmg" file to your Desktop.

	macOS Ventura 13.x	Download the "fw_client_v701-SP2.dmg" file to your Desktop.

	macOS Monterey 12.x	Download the "fw_client_v701-SP2.dmg" file to your Desktop.

	macOS Big Sur 11.x	Download the "fw_client_v701-SP2.dmg" file to your Desktop.

	macOS Catalina 10.15.x	Download the "fw_client_v701-SP2.dmg" file to your Desktop.

	macOS Mojave 10.14.x	Download the "fw_client_v701-SP2.dmg" file to your Desktop.

	macOS High Sierra 10.13.x	PLEASE NOTE: Version 7.0 and above are not supported on this macOS. Please upgrade your macOS to at least macOS 10.14 Mojave, in order to run farmerswife 7.0 and above.

	macOS Sierra 10.12.x	PLEASE NOTE: Version 7.0 and above are not supported on this macOS. Please upgrade your macOS to at least macOS 10.14 Mojave, in order to run farmerswife 7.0 and above.

	OS X El Capitan 10.11.x (and below)	PLEASE NOTE: Version 7.0 and above are not supported on this macOS. Please upgrade your macOS to at least macOS 10.14 Mojave, in order to run farmerswife 7.0 and above.

Retina vs Non-Retina

The default farmerswife Client app is now "Retina optimised" for Retina Display machines, but does work on all Macs (including those without a Retina Display) running on macOS Mojave, and above. On very big Retina screens (e.g. Mid 2020 16" MacBook Pro) users might notice that the Retina-optimised fw Client app can be less responsive.

They can then choose between:
“more crisp and less fuzzy, maybe a bit sluggish on scrolling and typing” (fw_client_v701-SP2.dmg) vs.

“fast, but a bit fuzzy” (fw_client_v701-SP2-nonretina.dmg ).

Please see below, if you encounter "font smoothing" issues when using the "Retina optimised" app.

Installation

After downloading a double click on the package file initiates the installation process: the package will be mounted and the installation window will open.

Follow the instructions of this window to add the farmerswife Client application to the macOS Applications folder.
Drag the farmerswife icon from the left onto the Applications folder to install.

After the successful installation, close the window. To start up farmerswife go to the Applications folder and double click on the farmerswife Client application icon to launch it.

PLEASE NOTE: Since macOS Big Sur, to launch the fw Client app for the 1st time after installation, you may have to right-mouse click on your installed fw client application and select > Open

The connection details should be remembered if you've replaced the previous installation. If not, you need to enter the server connection details. If your server is hosted locally, please check with your IT person for the IP address. If you are a cloud-hosted client, you can contact support.

Then "Eject" the farmerswife mounted drive:

Font Smoothing

When using the Retina app, some users may find that some fonts appear blurrier than others. This can be affected by the Font Smoothing setting, found within System Preferences of your Mac, on the General Tab.

With this setting ticked, fonts can appear thicker, potentially causing blurriness on some. With this un-ticked, fonts can appear thinner and crisper.

If you are running macOS Big Sur or later, you may no longer have this option within the System Preferences. In this instance, you can look to alter the Font Smoothing within Terminal.

CAUTION!: DO NOT use Terminal, unless you are a comfortable macOS user. If you are uncertain how to use Terminal, please seek advice, or speak to an Advanced macOS User or IT Admin before running any Terminal commands.
